Some Thoughts on the Current Plight of Humanity:
Although there are some positive indicators – such as declining birth rates and a rise in renewable energy use – most indicators suggest humans are rapidly heading in the wrong direction… Backward steps include increasing denial (and/or ignoring) of science, rising consumption levels (including meat and plastics consumption), more air travel, chopping down forests faster than ever, all kinds of pollution, and the steady increase in global carbon dioxide emissions.
“Measuring global surface temperatures remains important but a much broader set of indicators should be monitored. This includes human population growth, meat consumption, deforestation, energy consumption, fossil-fuel subsidies, annual economic losses, extreme weather events, and loss of biodiversity”!

Does Humanity have a chance of preventing the climate catastrophe that’s already upon us? I really don’t think so. Even if we somehow were to take the “immediate drastic actions” that environmentalists are calling for, it’s really “too little, too late”. The changes we need to make now (to prevent near-term human extinction) are so vast and huge and complex and expensive that it will take many generations (perhaps more than a century) for humans to end or significantly reduce our fossil-fuel dependence, and the emissions/warming that’s already happening in real time.
Is humanity itself doomed already? I hate to say it, but I think so. I’m not going to give up, though. We do what we can- GO TEAM!! But we are stuck (as a species) in this huge system that is not easy to change and we have already run out of time. Civilization is a heat-engine. The science tells us that warming of the planet will continue long after emissions cease. The ice-free Arctic will be the biggest “Game Over” flag we will see in our lifetimes, I think, and that could happen soon. Love is what matters now! I am so grateful for all that we have- especially each other. ❤️ Let’s enjoy this short life as much as possible, while we still can. GiveMeSome.Love ❤️

Well, um, it’s hard to keep up with all the CLIMATE EMERGENCY news and data, because the shit is hitting the fan so fast. I mean… FUCK! We have continued to see increased warming and increased Carbon emmissions and the huge explosion of global overshooting with everything. WE ARE FUCKED. Humanity is doomed because of our unevolved ignorance. But that’s OK, because it’s all an experiment and our souls are eternal. Namasté.
